LOVE everything about it, wouldn\'t trade it for anything in the world. i actually like that it is not computerized because i have total control and turning the knobs is fun! It is the EASIEST machine to understand. LOVE IT the accessory draw sometime is a tad difficult to pull out but it is really nothing to stop you from buying this wonderful machine. I love the knobs that are so easy to understand even for a child, the tension is a breeze, the automatic needle threader has no comparison, switching stitches is nothing but easy, the machines a real work horse, feet snap on like your thoughts are doing it for you and it has sewed for me for over 4 years! i would recommend this to any sewer, new or advanced!

I decided to buy the Janome Sewist 525s since I\'m still a beginner when it comes to sewing. While I\'ve been doing it on and off for a few years I really haven\'t dedicated the time to learn how to sew like a pro. I needed a machine that was easy to use but wouldn\'t cost too much. I looked into the Janome Magnolia as well but found the Sewist for a much better price. I\'m pretty happy with my decision. The very first thing I tried to sew was the thick leather strap on my gun holster. This is pretty tough material and the Sewist went right through it with no problem. The prior machines I\'ve used would never have done this and they cost more than this one. I also find it very user friendly which was the most important thing I was looking for. I don\'t have time to learn on a complicated sewing machine, nor do I really want to. I can just jump right on this Janome and get going. Even though it is geared towards users of all skill levels it still amazes me as to how many features it has. I probably won\'t use them all but it\'s nice knowing that they are there and it won\'t take a science degree to figure them out. The machine is also very light and I can take it places if I need to. I took a sewing class last month and was able to load it into the hard case and carry it with no problems. The case protects it very well and was a nice bonus that I didn\'t even expect. There are only a couple things I don\'t like about the Sewist 525s which is why I only gave it a 4 star rating. First, the plastic body doesn\'t seem as sturdy as some of the other metal ones out there. This is not all bad though because it keeps the weight and price down. I\'m just not sure if it will hold up for many years but so far so good. Also, the pastel colors on the side are a little too much for a guy who just likes to sew. They may be fine for some people but I\'m sure not everybody likes them. Other than that I couldn\'t be happier with the Janome Sewist sewing machine and would buy it again. The price is great and it is very easy to sew on.

I love my new machine, it was completely instinctive to use coming from an old Frister machine. It\'s lovely and quiet which was my main reason for replacing my other wise good machine, but everything feels so new and tight. Stitches are perfect every time, so it\'s highlighted things wrong or niggly with my old machine that I\'d always overlooked. I\'m so pleased I bought it, and it\'s the cheapest I found it online too!

Very easy to use, easiest press on foot system, holds the fabric well and doesn\'t seem to object to thicker fabrics. Only critisism would be the accessory drawer is hard to get into without taking the whole table off and tipping things out!
